The Annual Forum on Cultural Diplomacy 2026
The Annual Forum on Cultural Diplomacy is the flagship annual conference of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD). The 2026 edition, themed "Dialogue Across Cultures: Diplomacy, Leadership and Cooperation in a Changing World", is held in Potsdam and Berlin from 14 to 16 December 2026.
The forum brings together political and diplomatic leaders, representatives of international organisations, academics, cultural figures, civil society representatives and emerging leaders for a three-day programme of dialogue and exchange on the role of cultural diplomacy in an increasingly complex international environment. The conference opens with an official arrival day on 14 December and an evening welcome reception for all participants, followed by keynote addresses, panel discussions and interdisciplinary exchange on the evolving relationship between culture, diplomacy, democracy, leadership and international cooperation. Particular emphasis is placed on new approaches and initiatives responding to a rapidly changing world and its political, technological, economic and social transformations.
Participation is open to governmental and diplomatic officials, scholars and researchers, civil society practitioners, private sector representatives, students and early-career professionals. The forum is based at the ICD Academy House in Potsdam and hosted at a number of important political, historic and cultural locations across Berlin and Potsdam, with sessions held at the German Parliament in Berlin. The Academy also invites scholars, researchers, policymakers and practitioners to submit scholarly contributions, policy papers and strategic perspectives, with selected work published in an official forum publication after the conference.
The Annual Forum on Cultural Diplomacy runs alongside the Institute's wider programme of international forums, including the World Forum on Democracy & Peace, the Berlin Economic Forum and the Forum on Cultural Diplomacy in the European Union.
