The Columbia Gem and Mineral Society (CGMS) presents its 58th Annual Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show at the Jamil Shrine Temple in Columbia, South Carolina.

CGMS cuts geodes for visitors at the entrance, and there is a 'salted mine' where children can dig for crystal, fossil, rock and mineral treasures, plus $2 / $5 / $10 grab bags.

Demonstrations & DisplaysLive demonstrations of gemstone faceting, jewelry making, and flint knapping. Educational display cases showcase member collections, the South Carolina state gemstone (amethyst), and the state stone (blue granite). A raffle supports the society.

This family-friendly event is organized by the Columbia Gem and Mineral Society, a nonprofit educational club dedicated to the earth sciences and lapidary arts.
